About Dancesport Brochure
The "International DanceSport Federation" (IDSF) is the World Federation of all national Dancesport Federations and the sole administer of the Dancesport. IDSF represents a hundred thousand dancesport athletes and organizes competitions of all levels around the world. Dancesport competitions already took place back in 1920, although the IDSF was only founded in 1957.
Nowadays IDSF groups 84 affiliated countries out of 5 continents. The IDSF is managed by a Presidium of 12 members, under the chairmanship of Carlos Freitag from Spain. The other members come from the Germany, Finland, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia and Japan.
The "Belgische DansSport Federatie" (BDSF) is the only Belgian federation membre of the IDSF.

    IDSF Presidium
    On the 2007 Annual General Meeting of the International DanceSport Federation (IDSF) Carlos Freitag from Spain was re-elected as IDSF President. Heidi Götz from Austria and Peter Odstrcil from Czech were was elected as new members of the IDSF Presidium

    The Aims of IDSF
     
    • To promote DanceSport internationally and to work for further acceptance by the IOC.
    • To enhance the sporting appearance of DanceSport and make it attractive to world wide television audience.
    • To protect and develop our co-operation with IMG, our Joint-Venture marketing partner.
    • To provide standardised rules to which all International Competitiors organised by its members are subject.
